JAKARTA – Apple officially launched the Self Service Repair program on Wednesday (27/4) yesterday, meaning iPhone users can get manuals, spare parts, and original tools from the company to repair damaged devices.
Adapted from ZDNet, Thursday (28/4/2022), this self-service repair program, first introduced last year, and now available in the United States (US), is planned to be expanded to other countries starting in Europe by the end of 2022 .
So far, Apple has only provided parts and tools for repair on the iPhone 12, iPhone 13, and iPhone SE (3rd generation) lineup.
It states that there are more than 200 spare parts and tools available to repair components such as screens, batteries and cameras.
Later this year, Apple will supply manuals, parts, and tools for performing repairs on Mac computers with Apple silicon.
The company says the service is aimed at users who are experienced with the complexities of repairing Apple products.
Repairing a cellphone with spare parts from this program will not void the warranty, although damage that occurs during the repair process is not covered.
