According to a letter published on Wednesday by Parliament President Bärbel Bas (SPD), the so-called parliamentary allowance will increase by 3.1 percent from the current €10,012.89 to €10,323.29 per month. It was only shortly before Christmas that the Bundestag decided to automatically link the MPs’ allowances to general wage developments, as has been the case up to now. The sum that the parliamentarians receive monthly is thus adjusted every year on July 1 – analogous to the wage increase calculated by the Federal Statistical Office.
Diets fell last year because employees had lost earnings due to the corona pandemic.
