Barbie Kumalasari Becomes a Lawyer for the Accused of Sexual Abuse in Depok

Depok

A Koran teacher in Depok, MMS (69), was charged with molested 10 female students. In this trial, artist Barbie Kumalasari served as MMS lawyer.

The trial took place at the Depok District Court with the agenda of reading the indictment. The artist Barbie Kumalasari was seen sitting in the chair of the legal counsel for the defendant MMS (69).

Barbie said her client did the action spontaneously. He also revealed the treatment of MMS.

“He did it spontaneously. When he saw that the atmosphere was safe, he was in the room inviting the Koran. Or ordering him to enter the room, pretending to sew clothes, suddenly be accompanied, visited. Some were kissed, some had their pants opened,” Kumalasari said after the trial, Tuesday (26/4/2022).

He considered the defendant to have a disease disorder. However, he said, the truth is yet to be confirmed.

“In my opinion, this is also a disease, yes. So maybe later it will be examined by a psychiatrist, for sure. Including pedophiles or something later,” he said.

Barbie also said a number of factors that can relieve the perpetrators. Although not justified, he hopes that the threat demanded by the Prosecutor is not optimal.

“First he works as a Koran teacher, second he waives tuition fees for 3 years for his students, frees uniform fees, food and drink fees. And he is very cooperative in admitting it,” said Barbie.

“That’s a positive aspect of him that maybe God willing can at least relieve it,” he added.

Barbie also apologized to the parents of the victims. He hopes that the victim remains enthusiastic in carrying out his activities.

“So even though I’m an advocate here, but again I apologize to the parents who have become victims. And the main thing is to keep the spirit, hopefully we can get through all of this,” he concluded.

In this trial, MMS was accused of molesting 10 students. Prosecutors charged MMS with violating the Child Protection Act.

As a result of his actions, MMS was accused of violating Article 82 paragraph (1), paragraph (2), paragraph (4) and Article 76 E of Law Number 23 of 2002 on Child Protection as amended by Law Number 17 of 2016 junto Article 65 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.
