Will there be a “Japril” spin-off?
In any case, the (mini) comeback of Jesse Williams and Sarah Drew is not a surprise: Williams made headlines in the past few weeks with a court application that he wanted to pay his ex-wife less maintenance – after all, his finances have been bad since his ” Grey’s” exit not exactly rosy. He also always emphasized that he was open to a return to the doctor’s soap.
Drew has also made it clear that she would like to play the role of religious doctor April Kepner permanently. It hit her hard that the writers wrote her out of the show at the end of season 14. Unlike Williams, however, Drew has at least celebrated successes since the end of “Grey’s”, including with the Amazon Prime series “Cruel Summer”.
Perhaps the appearance of the two in the current season finale is also a harbinger of a possible “Japril” spin-off, which has been quietly rumored since Jesse Williams left…
