Grichuk, Rockies prevail in Detroit

DETROIT — Randal Grichuk had three hits, including his first home run of the season, and the Colorado Rockies beat the Detroit Tigers 6-2 on Sunday.

A day after getting his 3,000th hit, Tigers star Miguel Cabrera did not play. The Venezuelan had three hits in Saturday’s doubleheader in which both teams shared wins and reached a total of 3,002.

Charlie Blackmon finished with four hits, two runs and two RBIs for Colorado.

Chad Kuhl (2-0) again pitched well for his new team, allowing one run on four hits in six innings. He walked twice and struck out four for a 1.10 ERA in three starts with the Rockies.

Tyler Alexander (0-2) allowed five runs on eight hits and a walk in 3 2/3 innings.

The Rockies took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Blackmon doubled and then scored on CJ Cron’s single.

Blackmon had a two-run single in the fourth inning, causing Alexander to leave.

Ryan McMahon singled in the fifth inning.

For the Rockies, the Venezuelan Elías Díaz 3-0. Cuban José Iglesias 4-1 with a run scored.

For the Tigres, Puerto Rican Javier Báez 4-0.
