“Kompani Lauritzen” has during its two seasons put several of Norway’s most famous faces to the test through a series of military exercises, including food influencer Emilie Nereng.
On Wednesday night, Nereng took to Instagram to thank two of her teammates for helping her through what she describes as one of her toughest nights on “Kompani Lauritzen”, writes Nettavisen.
However, the incident did not appear on camera and on Instagram she writes the following:
“It was not included on camera, but in the middle of the night there I became as cold as I have never been before. Did not know toes, fingers, buttocks, face – and with wet shoes and socks and without the opportunity to put on warmer clothes, I panicked completely », she writes, among other things.
“I sat in the fetal position and shook – and then Skjelbæk and Damli grabbed me, opened their jackets and slung around me to give me warmth. It was so nicely done »she writes.
Got full of panic
This week, the participants’ willpower was to be put to the test when they were tested in an intense day of survival in layers, where they had to manage in the forest with very limited funds. One of the things the participants had to master was to light a fire and keep the flame alive until the next day, in addition to building shelter and not least keeping the heat through the night.
It turned out, however, to go a little fast in the turns for the red team consisting of Nereng, Marius Skjelbæk and Tone Damli when they were to get an introduction to the cabin construction.
Nereng tells Nettavisen that their cabin did not hold the heat well enough, which led to a very cold night.
– If we had built the cabin much lower so that the heat was preserved inside the cabin, it would have been warmer over time. We had also built the fire quite far away so as not to set ourselves on fire and we made quite a few mistakes to create a lot of heat and we unfortunately got to experience that ourselves and became very cold, she explains.

But the worst was beyond Nereng. During the evening she felt an intense cold she had not been away from before.
– We were all very cold, but for me I got a kind of panic. We had become very sweaty in the work we had done. The woolen underwear I was wearing was of course wet, and even though I had changed into clean socks and woolen underwear, I did not have warm clothes to wear. It made me as cold as I have never been in my life, she tells Nettavisen.
Did not have enough strength
When they realized that the cabin was not good enough, however, it was too late to improve it. Furthermore, the food flu says that they did not have enough strength to solve the problem either.
– We did not have the strength to do it so we were completely lost. We were so tired and cold, she says and adds:
– I was so cold on her hand that I could not grab anything, I just struggled to grab my shoelaces to tighten my shoes. I did nothing.

As the clock passed, both Skjelbæk and Damli fell asleep, and that was when it became worst for Nereng.
She tells Nettavisen that she was freezing in silence, but that Skjelbæk and Damli eventually woke up from her shivering.
– When they realized how bad it was, they opened their jackets and lay close to me so that I lay between them and slowly but surely regained the heat, she says.
No point in seeking help
Despite the fact that it was a scary and cold experience, she was never close to giving up. She emphasizes that “Kompani Lauritzen” has meant a lot to her and that she knows that the commander would have intervened if it had been life-threatening for them.
– There has always been good security around every exercise, but in our heads when we have not eaten or slept, we can not think rationally and that is when that panic comes, she says.
When asked if she considered getting the captain, she says that it was not an option.
– I felt there was no point in contacting the commander about this cold, I knew where that conversation would lead. I also did not have enough strength to get up and pick someone up, I could barely hold the fetal position I was in, she says.
Do not come to the movies
Nereng is not entirely sure why the dramatic event did not come on film, but believes that it was because the camera team had gone to bed. That was also the reason why she took to Instagram to express her gratitude to Skjelbæk and Damli.
– I felt that they really saved me even if my life was not in danger, but it clearly felt that way then and there, she says.
– The exercise itself was not dangerous in the first place, but what for me felt so dangerous was because I was cold to the core and did not know what to do. But it is one of many experiences they pull us through in “Kompani Lauritzen”, she concludes.
