Sergei Zhelev himself told NOVA that he was safe
Bulgarian Consul Sergei Zhelev has not been abducted, but is safe in his home. He himself confirmed this to NOVA in connection with similar information that appeared earlier.
Zhelev explained that he was celebrating the holiday with his family, but admitted that two days ago he had an incident with Russian forces. It involved checks on him and his colleagues, but said no violence had been used against him.
“It simply came to our notice then. And for my work and other things, but now everything is normal. Everything passed. In short, this is. They make checks – who works what, with whom he communicates, not to go into details. You know how it is, there is a war going on. There was no violence, there was conversation. They asked me for my opinion, for my business “, he explained.
Earlier in the Telegram, the mayor of occupied Melitopol Ivan Fedorov announced that the Russian military had kidnapped our honorary consul in the city, Sergei Zhelev.
“More than 50 of my colleagues were abducted across the country, today 29 are in the occupiers’ prisons. As for activists, businessmen, this is a constant practice of the occupiers, they kidnap anyone who has their own opinion, patriotic sentiments, “Fedorov wrote.
“A few hours ago it became known that the honorary consul of Bulgaria was abducted in Melitopol,” the mayor added.
