Throw away the advantage of 2 goals, even Il Partenopei lose

Napoli got a big hitch in his pursuit of the Scudetto. Il Partenopei lost 2-3 to Empoli after winning two goals first.

Napoli visit the Stadio Carlo Castellani, Sunday (24/4/2022) evening WIB, to face the host Empoli. Napoli need a win in order to keep their chances of competing in the championship track.

Lowering four of its flagship front players, Hirving Lozano, Dries Mertens, Lorenzo Insigne, and Victor Osimhen, Napoli played attacking since the early minutes. Empoli who are winless in their last 16 matches are always under pressure.

However, Napoli have difficulty scoring goals because of the tight defense of Empoli. At the end of the first half, Napoli finally broke the deadlock through Mertens’ goal.

Lozano’s penetration started from the left side, a cross was sent and Osimhen made a trick so that Mertens was free to score the ball into the Empoli goal.

Entered in the second half, Napoli continued to press the Empoli defense and did not let the hosts rise. The result Insigne doubled the score in the 55th minute through a left foot volley following Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa’s cross.

Empoli won 3-2 as well as dealt a blow to Napoli in their pursuit of the Scudetto. Napoli stuck in third place in the Serie A standings with 67 points from 34 matches, five points from Inter Milan at the top who have one game remaining and four points from AC Milan in second place.

This is the third time Napoli have failed to win after the previous two matches ended in a draw and defeat. Empoli is in 14th position with 37 points.
