Apple warns developers it may remove un-updated apps from the App Store

Apple has been preparing to remove apps that haven’t received updates for a while from App Store. The company would have warned the developers that, in order not to suffer the withdrawal, they would need to release a new update soon.

According to the reports of these professionals, the Cupertino giant would have sent emails about a “App Store Improvement Notice”which warns developers that an app has not been updated for a significant period of time and will be deleted from the official store within 30 days.

One such example would be the free game Motivoto, as it is two years old and has not received any new modifications since. Its creator, Robert Kabwe, complained about being unfair to those who generate indie games and compared it to the availability of 2000 consoles for sale.

Developer Emilia Lazer-Walker still argues that applications are “finished artwork from years ago”. So it’s not feasible to spend several days updating every little game she built in 2014.

On its support page, Apple justifies that the initiative makes it easier to search for applications that adapt to users’ needs, by verifying that they are functional and up to date in the App Store.

And for you, do you think that “Apple” acts correctly when banning apps and games without updating for a period of time? Leave your opinion in the comments below.
