Rostock (dpa) – Max, a confused teenager, is alone in a dark neighborhood at night. He lets himself be taken away by a car driver. But when he starts messing around with himself, Max stabs wildly on his thigh and flees into a forest.
A single mother and her son, who is paralyzed from the neck down, are found dead in their home. She lies stabbed in her blood in the hallway, the boy died of a stroke because nobody could change his IV.
This is the beginning of a rather somber “Polizeiruf 110” from Rostock (Sunday, April 24 at 8:15 p.m., in the first part) entitled “You can’t choose your family”, which offers a look behind the facade of a model suburban family. At the same time, Lina Beckmann makes her debut as Commissioner Melly Böwe.
It is the first Rostock “police call” in twelve years without the popular investigator duo Katrin König and Sascha Bukow, played by Anneke Kim Sarnau and Charly Hübner. When he left, Bukow left behind his colleague who was madly in love with him.
Charly Hübner’s farewell
“König had to tear Bukow out of his heart, whom she loved all the time and was only able to allow it at the end,” says Sarnau. She gives a glimpse into her own inner life when she reports on a phase of mourning after Hübner’s farewell. “We were a good team, we complemented each other perfectly,” says Sarnau, adding: “He was the head, I was the gut.” On the set, of course.
In the middle of the investigation into a family neighboring the dead, Bukow’s potential successor, Commissioner Melly Böwe from Bochum, bursts in. She, in turn, is closely linked to Max (Alessandro Schuster, impressive in this role), the foster son of this family. The case goes deep into the common past. At the same time it also becomes clear that Böwe is Bukow’s half sister.
Present in the minds of women
This is how the 25th “Polizeiruf 110” from Rostock, for which Florian Oeller wrote the screenplay and Stefan Krohmer directed, manages to ensure that Sascha Bukow is permanently present in the minds of the investigators. By the way, Lina Beckmann, who is mainly known as a theater actress, is married to Charly Hübner in real life.
Bukow is the link between Katrin König and Melly Böwe, which swings between the two, says Beckmann. TV viewers loved Sascha Bukow, but the two women now wanted to do something new. “I’m brave and open about it.” She speaks of a process in which she will learn to develop the character of Melly Böwe. Böwe’s advantage is that it has nothing to do with Bukow’s semi-legal life.
Böwe and König are two different and strong women who obviously feel connected to each other. They sniff each other out during the investigation, but they also have their secrets from each other. Oeller and Krohmer faced the exciting experiment of integrating Böwe into the well-established team, which, alongside König, consists of Henning Röder (Uwe Preuss), Anton Pöschel (Andreas Guenther) and Volker Thiesler (Josef Heynert). The first test has been passed.
