Now the heat is smoking

Next week, the hot weather will break, reports the Meteorological Institute.

– It will be colder next week. It has become colder in Eastern Norway today already. Instead of 20 degrees, as it was yesterday, we are down to 12-13.

State meteorologist Rafael Escobar Løvdahl told Dagbladet on Saturday afternoon.

Must surely shovel

Residents in the south and north can look forward to hail and snow showers in the coming week.

– The heat disappears, but there will be long periods of sun south of Stad and Dovre. But it gets significantly colder. From Stad and northwards – Trøndelag, Nordland, Troms and Finnmark – it will turn to snow showers during the next week.

– Are there areas that stand out in one direction or the other?

– No, nothing more than that you have to be prepared for the snow you have to deal with. You probably have to shovel a little, and drive according to the conditions.

In the south, the weather is characterized by a lot of sun, but lower temperatures.

– In Eastern Norway, there will probably be some showers in the afternoon, and there may be hail in these showers. In the north it is more cloudy, and we have these snow showers that go smoothly. It can become a part of them.

Warning for grass fire

Escobar Løvdahl also refers to the Meteorological Institute’s standing danger warning for grass and heather fires in southern Norway.

– There is a great danger of grass and heather fires, so you must be very careful to follow the advice given. It is very dry, and no new vegetation has emerged, he says.

This risk will persist until significant rainfall has occurred, and this year’s vegetation has emerged.

– It really gets worse and worse, regardless of the temperature. The less hot it is, the slower it dries out, but now it is so dry that it does not have much to say. We’re past it anyway.
