On Friday evening, the cantonal police in Bern carried out road and rail traffic controls at 43 checkpoints in the Mittelland-Emmental-Oberaargau region and in the Bern region. The controls on the trains were carried out in cooperation with the security services of the transport companies.
A total of 632 people in 381 vehicles and various trains on the Bern-Solothurn, Bern-Olten, Bern-Biel and Bern-Interlaken routes were checked. The aim of the check, which was carried out in coordination with several different cantonal police forces, was to check the driving ability of the drivers and the condition of the vehicles, and to search for people who were being sought.

In the area of the canton of Bern, 31 people were reported. Five people were reported to the police. Among other things, four people are reported for driving while intoxicated and four others for driving under the influence of drugs. In addition, four reports of violations of the Road Traffic Act and 27 fines were issued.
12 people were reported for violating the Narcotics Act. Drugs and a weapon were also seized. In addition, 93 passengers on the trains checked were unable to present a valid ticket.
In order to ensure traffic safety, both preventive actions and regular traffic checks will be carried out throughout the canton.
