More than 37,000 refugees from the Ukraine war have already registered in Switzerland (as of yesterday, Thursday). Over 30,000 of them have so far received protection status S.
At the beginning of the war, the authorities in this country had promised that up to 50,000 people from the Ukraine war could be safely taken in. You saw that back in the 1990s during the Kosovo war.
At the beginning of March, the cantons said they were already expecting up to 300,000 refugees to come. So about six times as much as originally thought. At least that’s what Marcel Suter, President of the Association of Cantonal Migration Authorities said.
