According to information to Business Insider Sony plans to start placing ads in Playstation’s free-to-play games.
The goal of the ads should be that developers should be able to make money on them. In this way, Sony also hopes that it will be more attractive for developers to make free-to-play games. It has not yet been decided whether Sony will receive a share of the advertising revenue.
The ads should be designed so as not to be too intrusive and instead appear on things like bulletin boards in a game. They will be sold through a private marketplace and players will also be able to get rewards for watching them. The expectation is that the ads will appear in games towards the end of the year.
Sony has not commented on it all.
