The San José de Lora olive grove of Estepa SCA has won a third “Mario Solinas” awardconvened by the International Olive Council, to the quality of its extra virgin olive oil, bottled by Oleoestepa and certified by the Estepa Denomination of Origin.
The award obtained by San José de Lora de Estepa, in the “Packers” category, supposes a great recognition to the work of the cooperative and to the exigency of the group Oleoestepa in matter of quality. Once again, the entity entered the contest with a deposit of 50,000 kilos, which considerably increases the difficulty of obtaining extra virgin olive oil of such high quality, preventing entities that aspired to the award with a much smaller volume.

Award-winning extra virgin olive oil has been produced in a sustainable way thanks to the Integrated Production method, and is currently available in PET 5l format, filtered and unfiltered.
This EVOO comes from olives of the hojiblanca variety, dominant in the territory covered by the Estepa Denomination of Origin, and has a very fresh and fruity aroma of green olives. Its aroma is reminiscent of fresh grass, green olive leaf flavor with hints of apple and artichoke. Very fresh as well as delicate with elegant bitterness and itching.

The International Olive Council is an intergovernmental body where all the olive oil producing countries of the world participate, being the reference award «Mario Solinas» the most important competition in the world in the oil sector, by the evaluation criteria and parameters.

According to the DO itself, this appellation of origin is “the most demanding entity” when it comes to certifying an extra virgin olive oilHence, many of its protected oils have received important national and international awards.
Its recognized olive juices come from the region of Estepa and Puente Genil, a territory that has a thousand-year-old history and the know-how of more than 4,500 olive-growing families that remain faithful to the tradition of giving each year the best fruit to produce the most exquisite extra virgin olive oil.
Among the varieties of extra virgin olive oil protected by the Estepa Denomination of Origin are the Hojiblanca, Arbequina, Selección and Estepa Virgen. Which stand out, among other aspects, for their fruitiness, the richness of aromas they have, whose smells remind us of freshly cut grass, green fruits (almond, apple, banana, tomato…).
In addition, all the extra virgins of the Estepa Denomination of Origin have a balance of bitterness and spicinessfundamental characteristics in a good oil, which make it delicious on the palate.
The Protected Designation of Origin Estepa has also achieved that 100% of the production of its territory is sustainable, since they use ecological and integrated production methods, which guarantee care for the environment and food safety.
