Exhibition of works by the participants of Valdis Bush ‘s painting plein air / Day

Inspired by the art of Valdis Bush, an international plein air of painters has been taking place in Vilaka’s hometown since 2017, which has become an important part of the Northern Latgale cultural space. The plein air is organized by Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Center in cooperation with Vilaka and Balvi municipalities. The plein air is also supported by the Valdis Bush family. In five years at the International Painting Plein Air Valdis Bush artists from 17 countries have participated. The collection depicts the landscape of Latgale through the eyes of painters from four continents – Europe, Asia, Australia and North America. The works created at the plein airs are responsibly stored and shown to the audience at the Vilaka Museum.

We are happy to show the collection of Vilaka’s international plein air works at the Bulduri Exhibition House, the place where Valdis Bušs lived and painted from 1984 until his death and where the artist’s workshop has been open to the public since 2018.

The works in the exhibition are changed periodically so that in more than two months we can introduce the audience to the participants of all five plein airs.
