Uldis Lipskis, the leader of the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra, does not hide his enthusiasm: “Festival Liepaja summer launches a new life cycle. The Liepaja Symphony Orchestra, now even brighter and more powerful, is returning to its roots with summer concerts in the reborn concert garden by the sea, and in the coming years we will have many inspiring meetings at the summer symphony concerts on the stage. Blow wind!.”
On July 2, the festival will enjoy an opera concert, where the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Atvar Lakstīgala, will perform overtures, arias and ensembles of well-known operas together with soloists. The soloists of the concert will be world-famous singers – Serbian rising star, soprano Marija Jeliča, Italian tenor Dario di Vietri and Latvian famous bass baritone Egils Siliņš.
The concert on August 5 will feature a summer symphonic music program by George Gershwin, Leonard Bernstein and Maurice Ravel in the renovated concert garden. Guntis Kuzma will be the conductor of the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra, who will become the main conductor of this orchestra in the autumn. Pianist Vestards Šimkus will shine with the orchestra in the piano concert of the American composer George Gershwin.
Latvian rock legend, band at the concert on August 27 Thunder on its 40 – year journey will rumble the first concert program with the symphony orchestra. On September 4, this concert will be available in Dzintari Concert Hall in Jurmala.
