New ‘ultra-thin’ AyaNeo Windows gaming handheld gets OLED screen – Gaming – News

The CEO of AyaNeo, maker of the Windows handheld AyaNeo, says the company is working on ultra-thin gaming handhelds with an OLED screen. The handheld is to become the ‘thinnest OLED Windows handheld’ in the world. The first photo of the handheld has appeared online.

AyaNeo CEO Arthur Zhange has the new series of handhelds announced on YouTube, having previously made a Weibo post about it. The new generation is completely different from traditional Windows handhelds, Zhange says. He argues that the problem with previous generations of Windows handhelds has always been that hardware size was a limitation, so the form factor is always large and the handheld ends up being large and heavy. The new generation uses hardware that makes it possible to make a thinner handheld. AyaNeo says on Twitter that the handheld weighs less than 600 grams. The Steam Deck weighs 669 grams.

What hardware AyaNeo has put in the handheld is not yet known, but the handheld should “run AAA games smoothly,” Zhange says, and be much lighter and thinner. In addition, Zhange says that the upcoming AyaNeo will be equipped with an OLED screen, unlike its predecessors, which use LCD screens. The new handheld is the successor to the Ayaneo 2021 and the AyaNeo Next. Zhange also says that the price of the AyaNeo handheld has been successful.

Zhange says that the new generation of AyaNeo will expand the entire product line. For performance, users can opt for the AyaNeo Next Discovery Edition, which features an AMD Ryzen 6000 apu and is due later this year, as well as a Next series with Ryzen 5000 apu. The 2021 AyaNeo will also continue to be sold, as will the AyaNeo Retro Power with 4800U apu. Added to this is the AyaNeo Ultra-thin, which will be officially announced during a press conference in May.

Youtuber Cary Golomb has shared the first images of the new AyaNeo. He calls the handheld relatively small, and the photos show that it is mainly much thinner than the previous generation of AyaNeo handhelds, more similar to Valve’s Steam Deck.
