Foil windsurfing, double dinghy, double foil catamaran… The weekend of April 23, 2022 will be pre-Olympic in Hyères (Var). Will be held there until April 30, 2022 French Olympic Week, with the ten series of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This is the first time in France.
Coming from more than 50 countries, the 650 registered runners, including top olympic sailors world championships, will be present on this body of water renowned for its technicality and strong winds. After the Princess Sofia Trofeo at the beginning of April, Hyères is the second big test in the Olympic calendar.
A gesture for Ukrainian athletes
The organizers of Hyères Olympic Week have decided to invite and provide accommodation for the entire Ukrainian delegation who will be present for the event.
“This body of water, reputed to be as technique what tactical also has the privilege of being surrounded by the aptly named “golden islands”. (…) This “comeback” of the SOF is a pleasure all the more real as this edition follows two difficult years. says Jean-Luc Denéchau, President of the French Sailing Federation.
Which champions?
From Tokyo Games champions will compete : the Australian Matt Wearn (Ilca male), the Italians Ruggero Tita & Caterina Banti (Nacra 17 mixed), the Brazilians Martine Grael and Kahena Kunze (49er female), the English Eilidh McIntyre who will be associated with Martin Wringley (470 dinghy mixed doubles).
On the side of French, the world champions from iQFOiL Hélène Noesmoen and Nicolas Goyard will be present in Hyères. In KiteFoil we find the world champion Théo de Ramecourt.
