In conversation with Richard Kemper, Igone explains how she sees the situation. Like Richard, she has a stepchild. “I see Sammie, the daughter of my husband Thijs and his ex Katja, as my own child. I never use the word stepdaughter.” The comedian agrees: he also sees his two stepchildren as ‘his’ children. Although he finds the term bonus child even worse than stepchild.
Igone: “Exactly. What always moves me enormously is the ritual around Sammie’s birthday. She then immediately wants to eat ice cream early in the morning, preferably with the whole family: Katja, Thijs, me, my son Hugo, my ex, our parents… Very much Modern Family, say. On those days I am even more proud of how lovingly we all do this.”

Thijs and Igone have been happily married for over two years, but have no further desire to have children. “The fact is that we both have a child from a different marriage,” Igone said earlier in LINDA. about that. “Those two get along so magically, and the four of us get on so well, it’s so complete. Then when the two of us have another baby, the other two children go in and out , as happens with divorced parents, while the three of us would always be together. And we don’t want that. It’s good now.”
