The two ministers said they were pleased with the development of the integral partnership between their countries despite the COVID-19. In 2021, bilateral trade reached more than 4.5 billion USD, an annual increase of 14.1%. Currently, Argentina is the 3e Vietnam’s trading partner in Latin America.
On behalf of the Vietnamese government, Bùi Thanh Son once again expressed his thanks to the Argentine government for offering 500,000 doses of vaccine from AstraZeneca to Vietnam in November 2021.
The Vietnamese minister stressed that Vietnam always attaches importance to its relations with Argentina and is ready to work with Argentina to make their comprehensive partnership established in 2010 more effective.
The Vietnamese minister proposed to give priority to the multiplication of visits by senior leaders and to better take advantage of opportunities for economic and trade cooperation through bilateral and multilateral mechanisms (WTO, MERCOSUR, etc.).
He also suggested that the Argentine side promote access to its market for agricultural products (coffee, fresh and dried fruits) and other flagship products of Vietnam such as textile-clothing, leather shoes, furniture, building materials. …
Minister Bùi Thanh Son said he appreciated the proposal of his counterpart Santiago Andrés Cafiero to expand bilateral cooperation in areas including space technologies and satellites, biotechnologies at the service of agriculture and livestock, energy transformation .
For his part, Minister Santiago Andrés Cafiero affirmed that Argentina always holds in high esteem the role and the position of Vietnam in the region and in the world.
He agreed to strengthen coordination in politics, diplomacy, economy, trade both bilaterally and multilaterally, as well as promote South-South cooperation.
He also promised to work closely with the Vietnamese side in developing and implementing political, diplomatic, economic, trade, cultural and tourism activities in honor of the 50e anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
