A fire broke out in a wooded massif of Salernes, in the Var. He declared himself this Monday at the end of the afternoon two kilometers from the Saint-Barthélémy chapel.
The fire was brought under control at the end of the evening, after covering 3 hectares of pine forest. At 9 p.m., three forest fire intervention groups, including 63 firefighters, were still mobilized to ensure the total extinction of the flames. They should stay there for a few more hours.
The Var already very affected by the fires
Another forest fire broke out this Sunday afternoon in Varages in the Var, according to information from Var-Matin. More than 7000 M2 of vegetation went up in smoke in this fire which was brought under control. Poorly controlled burning would be the cause of the fire.
In recent weeks, the authorities and in particular the Var prefecture have warned of the risk of brush and forest fires, given the current drought.
