For fans of Apple and its line of Mac computers, the start of 2022 meant only one thing: instant guesswork on when we’d see the inevitable new M2 processor in action.
It’s no longer a secret that the people of Cupertino have revitalized their laptop and desktop industry with this new generation of hardware.
Time after time, Apple’s M1 has proven to be a beast of a chip in any configuration and in virtually any scenario.
If Intel continues with its usual narrative, the successor to this chip will be even more powerful, which has caused expectations to skyrocket.
The first speculations appeared several months ago, pointing to four gadgets that could integrate an M2 processor.
However, new information has emerged that leads to a much bolder bet.
Apple’s M2 processor will be used in a variety of products in 2022
Bloomberg published a disturbing and intriguing article in which he claims to have received unique access to the logs of programs testing their performance on this new generation of chips.
They got some crisp new information about this family of CPUs, which would follow the same logic as its predecessors giving birth to the Apple M2, M2 Pro, M2 Max, and maybe a surprise new model.
The Apple M2 Max chip is rumored to feature 12 CPU cores and 38 graphics cores, along with 64GB of memory. A huge improvement over the ten CPU cores and 32 graphics cores of the M1 Max.
The newspaper has information indicating that the M2 Pro and M2 Max CPUs will be included in two new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models.
Additionally, a 14-inch MacBook Pro, codenamed J414, will be available with an integrated M2 Pro or M2 Max.
Additionally, a 16-inch MacBook Pro, codenamed J416, will be available with an integrated M2 Pro and M2 Max. Indeed, this last chip would be identified by the presence of two CPU cores and six additional GPU cores compared to the M1 Max.
Also, there will be MacBook Air and MacBook Pro with M2 processor and 10-core GPU. Finally, there is a Mac Mini equipped with the M1 Pro and another Mini equipped with the M2 Pro which are sold separately from the Mac Studio.
Finally, the newspaper speculates that Apple could unveil a Mac Pro equipped with the M2 Ultra processor, which is nothing more than two M2 Max chips running in parallel.
Apple could present about nine gadgets equipped with new processors. Although the margin of unconfirmed guesses is considerable.
