The death of a newborn thrown out of a fifth-story window by his teenage mother last October in the Bronx has been ruled a homicide, police said Thursday.
Medical staff at Lincoln Hospital informed authorities of the tragedy Oct. 25 when the 17-year-old mother presented for treatment without the child after giving birth inside her apartment on E. 158th St., according to police. from New York.
The teenager told authorities that she had thrown the baby out the window. Police rushed to the scene and found the one-day-old stillborn baby in a flower pot on the street.
An autopsy was performed to determine if the child was stillborn or alive when he was killed.
It was determined that he died of blunt force traumatic injuries, the medical examiner’s office said.
It was not disclosed if the teen was arrested. Further details were not immediately available.
