Technical Director ajax AmsterdamGerry Hamstra, signaling a move Erik ten Hag going to Manchester United. This is the explanation of the replacement for Marc Overmars.
Ten Hag is a strong candidate for next season’s Man United manager to replace Ralf Rangnick. Ten Hag has reportedly made a verbal agreement with the Red Devils.
Well, the signal for Ten Hag’s departure to Old Trafford was blown by Hamstra. He spoke before Ten Hag’s Ajax lost against PSV Eindhoven in the Dutch Cup on Sunday afternoon local time.
The reason Ten Hag will go to MU is because the new contract offered by Ajax has not been signed. This makes the potential for Ten Hag’s departure even greater.
“I can be very succinct about that. We have done everything to keep him from leaving. Contract extension offered? Of course. A raise? Everything goes with that, cannot be detailed,” Hamstra told ESPN Netherlands about Ten Hag’s situation.
Hamstra also admitted the ball was in the hands of Ten Hag. The 52-year-old coach is considered very experienced to be able to determine his own future.
“We have two scenarios: we really hope he stays, it makes sense that there is interest in that. And if he doesn’t stay, we have to be ready for the second scenario.”
Ajax captain Dusan Tadic really hopes Ten Hag stays. The coach is considered one of the best in the world.
“I hope he stays, he’s a great coach,” Tadic said of Ten Hag.
“(Ten Hag) is one of the best in the world. Tactically he thinks two steps ahead of the opponent. It’s a pleasure to work with him. It makes sense that there is interest in the coach and players of Ajax. It will always happen,” he added.
