Turn water into land with the Waterwolf or with the airplane The Flying Dutchman to the New York of the 17th century. We’re not talking about some science fiction movie, we’re just talking about Madurodam! Read here what you can do and experience in and around the May holiday.
Traditionally we went to Madurodam to see the whole world in miniature. Hey there you have the Peace Palace and hey, that’s the Utrecht Cathedral! Madurodam is all about experience. That is of course still possible, but in 2022 the park has gained quite a few spectacular attractions.
Making land out of water
The best example of this is Madurodam’s great pride, The Flying Dutchman. Step into one of the last (real!) Dakota planes in the Netherlands. Every six minutes a show starts on the plane where you discover everything about the pioneers who made our small country great. You even end up in New Amsterdam (or New York). You fly right over the Amsterdam canals and dive into Escher’s masterpieces. A great way to learn about our culture and history for both adults and children.
Also a great activity to do: Beat the Waterwolf. Together you put a huge steam engine into operation and you experience how the Dutch used to make land from water in an impossible place. The immense Haarlemmermeer, for example.

May holidays in Madurodam
So in 2022 you can do a lot at Madurodam. That is really fun with your own Madurodam passport: visit as many destinations as possible and stamp your passport yourself. Also play with the interactive miniatures, load containers in the port of Rotterdam and prevent the Netherlands from being flooded. The little ones play in the Miffy playground and enjoy all the moving trains, boats and cars.
Especially for the May holidays there is a special treasure hunt for the kids. The treasure hunt is free and you will receive it at the ticket control. During the May holidays, Madurodam is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Order your tickets here.
