Arno’s song ‘Les yeux de ma mère’ has been voted the best song ever by Radio 1 listeners. It tops the Radio 1 Classics 1000 for the first time, keeping Pink Floyd in first place.

The song wasn’t even in the top 100 last year – when Arno ended up in 108th place. But it’s not completely unexpected: the same song by Arno previously also led the Belpop 100 of Radio 1. This makes it the first time that the same song tops both lists, Radio 1 reports.
In second place is ‘Wish you were here’ by Pink Floyd, in the previous edition still number 1. Tom Waits rises with Martha to number 3 ‘Shine on you crazy diamond’ by Pink Floyd and ‘Heroes’ by David Bowie fall out of the top three due to the shifts.
After Arno, the first Belgian listing is Mia van Gorki, good for place 23. TC Matic, the group that Arno was part of in the 1980s, returns to place 25 with ‘O la la la’. The compatriot with the The largest number of nominations in the Classics 1000, however, is Jacques Brel, who is on the list 7 times. His highest ranking is for ‘Ne me quitte pas’, in 28th place.
