The Baltic Sea is one of the five most polluted seas in the world. Its waters suffer from discharges from the food, chemical, micro-plastics and maritime transport industries. Researchers at the University of Klaipeda in Lithuania are developing a biotechnology intended to neutralize the effects of oil spills at sea by breaking them down as quickly as possible.
