A new hospital will be built in the Guingamp sector, to replace the current one, whose premises are no longer suitable for modern medicine.
No one knows yet where this new hospital will be built. Will it be installed along the RN12, or on another site?
A reconstruction on the current site?
The mayor of Pabu, Pierre Salliou, pleads for the hospital to be rebuilt on the current site, or at least for it to remain in his commune: “For me, the hospital must remain in Pabu. I would like a reconstruction on site. The current hospital is installed on nearly 10 hectares of artificial land. Why would we artificialize 10 hectares of additional land? »
The mayor is also worried about the economic consequences of moving the hospital: “We too often forget that there is a whole economy around a hospital, with shops, nannies, staff who lives near the hospital…”
Pierre Salliou adds a third strong argument for keeping his hospital: “I don’t want the town to end up with a wasteland, which will deteriorate very quickly and which will be very quickly squatted, which could give rise to all the traffic. »
The first city councilor is also worried about Guingamp: “If the new hospital is built on the edge of the four-lane highway, neither patients nor visitors will pass through Guingamp town center, which will be harmful for the town- center also…”
Land available near Point Vert?
If the hospital cannot be rebuilt on site, for cost reasons, Pierre Salliou is already suggesting a possible alternative: “If it is impossible to create the new hospital in place of the old one, I still ask that it is rebuilt in the municipality of Pabu. I am thinking in particular of the Saint-Loup area, near Point Vert and Toyota. Guingamp Paimpol Agglomeration has about ten hectares in this area. »
Will the mayor of Pabu’s plea for the hospital to remain in his town be heard by decision-makers and the Regional Health Agency (ARS)? Response in the coming months.
