An elderly couple was injured on Werststeeg in Berlicum on Friday afternoon. A water tank that hung behind a van came loose and crashed into the victims’ car. The windshield of their car was pierced. Local residents provided first aid until emergency services arrived.
The accident happened around 5:30 am. A van was driving on the Werststeeg with a water tank behind it. It shot loose and hit the side of the road.
The elderly couple were driving towards the van when their car was hit in the front by the tank. A piece of their windshield was pierced. The victims were not hit by the water tank, but were probably injured by the hard blow.
Bystanders and local residents helped the victims and provided first aid. The couple was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The driver of the van is unharmed. According to a 112 correspondent, the occupants were greatly shocked. It is not clear what caused the water tank to explode.
