The president summoned a deputy prime minister. What did you order him to do?

President Rumen Radev met today at Dondukov 2 with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Grozdan Karadzhov on his initiative, at which the problems in the road sector and transport connectivity of the country were discussed.

At the meeting, Grozdan Karadzhov briefed the president on the government’s efforts to find a solution to the remaining unresolved problems of the previous regular government with the payment of funds provided for road maintenance.

Rumen Radev stressed that the problems in the road sector must be urgently found, with clear and transparent procedures and compliance with quality standards.

According to the head of state, it is the construction contracts that have severely shaken public confidence in the way the previous regular government awarded public contracts and exercised control over the quality, price and volume of activities.

The President stressed that regional connectivity is a guarantee for growth and development and added that Bulgaria is part of important international transport corridors, which are a strategic priority and must be developed.

It was generally agreed that the steps taken to clarify contracts and put an end to the practice of concluding road maintenance agreements, which would subsequently be transformed for repairs, were a positive step, but urgent action was needed to ensure safe road conditions. Bulgarian citizens and for efficient work of companies in the transport industry.
