Four cool tuning creations from the eBay New York Auto Parts Show

The rEVamp

What do you do when your 2007 Toyota Prius has served its purpose as a daily driver and you’re looking for more oomph? Normal people buy another car, but Emelia Hartford was apparently so attached to her Prius that she equipped it with a turbocharged Honda K24 engine, known from the Honda Accord and already producing about 200 horsepower in standard trim. The engine was reinforced with new pistons, new camshafts and linked to a 6-speed Civic Si. The funny thing is: from the outside you would never see the potential under the hood. A real sleeper.

The Family Muscle Car

This project by YouTuber Tavarish is perhaps a little more famous. The goal is simply to build the fastest minivan ever. The method? Build an 800 horsepower Dodge Challenger Hellcat engine into a Chrysler Pacifica. It is still a work-in-progress, but there are some technical hurdles to overcome for the project. The Hellcat Pacifica should be ready by the SEMA exchange in November.

The New Throwback

This 1969 Ford Bronco by actress Sydney Sweeney (of Euphoria fame) falls more into the classic series of restorations/restomods. Sweeney converted the car during the lockdown, and it was no small job: all the rust on the bottom has been removed by hand, the steering column has been renewed, the gearbox has been replaced with a modern automatic and the interior is upholstered in brown leather.

The Mod-Monster

Don’t underestimate the fabrication skills of a good plumber. YouTuber Colin Furze proves this time and again, but also this creation by Grind Hard Plumbing Co. underlines that rule. The duo of Ethan Schlussler and Edwin Olding converted this 1990 Ford Ranger into an off-road monster on six wheels with a quasi-bare chassis on the double rear axle. The inspiration for this creation came from the so-called ‘pre-runners’, the cars that control rally and off-road tracks before a race. But what if you want to take some stuff with you?
