A stabbing was reported at the Den Hey-Acker Juvenile Detention Center in Breda around half past three on Friday afternoon. Police say two may have been injured. Many police officers in bulletproof vests walk around the site.
Among other things, a trauma helicopter has landed at the juvenile detention center. It is not yet clear what exactly is going on, the police expect to come up with more information later. At five o’clock, an hour and a half after the first report of an incident, there was still no more information.
More unrest at Den Hey-Acker
It is not the first time that there is unrest at Den Hey-Acker. Outbreaks, violence and intimidation are a recurring problem for employees. “Staff do not feel safe,” union director Yntse Koenen told Omroep Brabant earlier.
Recently, the youth prison in Breda was in the news because of an escaped 21-year-old prisoner. He had held prison staff hostage at gunpoint. He later died in a firefight with the police in Belgium.
