Heavy snow has fallen in a number of Turkish eastern districts over the past few days, with the thickness of the snow cover in the Kars district bordering Armenia reaching 20 centimeters, BTA reported.
“People are swimming in the Aegean, and we have snow here in April,” a Kars resident told the DHA.
The snowfall in Kars began on April 12, when temperatures dropped by more than 10 degrees Celsius. Much of eastern Turkey is under the influence of a cold front.
According to meteorologists, the snowfall in Eastern Anatolia will continue until April 17.
Heavy snow is also falling in the eastern counties of Bingöl and Van.
