Hydro-Québec will be able to export its electricity to New York

Hydro-Québec will be able to export its hydroelectricity to the huge Big Apple market. New York authorities today approved the agreement.

Energy Minister Jonatan Julien made the announcement today on his Twitter account.

“A major milestone in this project has now been completed. I congratulate the teams of Hydro-Québec and QuebecNewYork,” he wrote.

As for her, the governor of the state of New York, Kathy Hochul, speaks of a “historic agreement” and mentions that this agreement is part of the initiatives to make this region zero emissions by 2040.

The 25-year agreement will generate potential revenues of nearly US$30 billion for the state-owned company during this period.
