Drug strike on the North Shore of Montreal

A man and a woman arrested Wednesday during a police operation carried out in Rosemère and Laval risk facing charges related to drug trafficking.

Maxime Gagné-Charest, 28, appeared at the Laval courthouse on charges of crack and cocaine trafficking, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of ammunition and breakage.

The 24-year-old woman was released on summons and could face the same charges of cocaine trafficking, ammunition trafficking and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, said the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

During the searches, the police seized hundreds of ammunition, a dozen Glock pistol magazines, equipment used in the production of crack, a pellet gun, knives and more than $27,000.

The police operation was led by the Montreal Integrated Arms Trafficking Team (EILTA), made up of the SQ, the Montreal City Police Service, the Canada Border Services Agency, in collaboration with the Laval and Blainville police forces.
