The President of Latvia, Egils Levits, emphasized that Latvia would support securing Ukraine’s candidate status in the European Union (EU) as soon as possible. Levits emphasized that Latvia would urge that the process of candidate status be reviewed by the EU as soon as possible, so that the Ukrainian society sees that its efforts to defend European values ​​have not been in vain.

The President of Latvia also noted that the consequences of the tragic war seen in Ukraine only make it even more convincing that Russia and all those responsible for war crimes – from the perpetrators to the perpetrators – will have to answer for their crimes.

During the meeting, the President of Ukraine expressed hope that the Baltic States and Poland could help Ukraine in the field of grain exports with their ports. The President confirmed that Latvia was fully prepared to co-operate in the implementation of this goal.
