“We continue the change” becomes a cloud party

On September 19, 2021, Kiril Petkov and Asen Vassilev announced that they were entering politics with “We continue the change”, and behind them stood young and unknown people. Where are they today – see the photo.

At a night congress on Friday, April 15, in Plovdiv

It was established four months after coming to power – as did the royal NMSS 20 years ago

Kiril Petkov and Asen Vassilev in tandem again will be co-chairs of the new formation

Four months after coming to power, “We continue the change” became a party.

It is established this Friday in Plovdiv. And from the very beginning, he has given a sign that he does not want to behave exactly like the standard political formations, although he is created according to all legal rules.

First, it is expected to have two co-chairs – Kiril Petkov and Asen Vassilev, who from the very beginning have been side by side in the project “We continue the change”. In the party, they will continue again as a tandem, like

most likely the prime minister and deputy prime minister will have no deputies

Second, the main party activity will take place on the Internet. Most of the structures will be virtual and will communicate and lead the party debate in the cloud. However, there will be regional offices and coordinators in some places.

Third, the constituent assembly will start outside the traditional day and time for a classic party congress.

The “change” officially enters party life on Friday night – the congress starts at 5 pm and will probably last until late at night. A hall with the name “Bulgaria” was chosen in the International Fair in the city under the hills, which is owned by the famous Plovdiv resident and enemy of the social leader Cornelia Ninova Georgi Gergov.

The reason for the late hour of the establishment is the high workload in the schedule of the Prime Minister and the ministers of “Change”, who will be the main actors in the congress, explain the organizers of the event.

And early on Saturday, Prime Minister Kiril Petkov will fly directly from Plovdiv to Bitola. There, together with Vice President Iliana Yotova and former Macedonian Prime Minister Ljupco Georgievski, he will open the new office of Bulgaria’s Ivan Mihailov Cultural Center. The building was attacked and vandalized in February.

Like the royal NMSS 20 years ago, “We continue the change” will become a party months after coming to power. Currently, the mandates of the ruling party are Nastimir Ananiev’s VOLT, Konstantin Bachiiski’s Middle European Class (SEC) and the Social Democrats with Elena Noneva.

In the next elections, however, Petkov and Vassilev can now register with their own registration

For Bulgaria, the moment has come when change must continue. The time of outrages, lawlessness, theft and corruption deprives us of a just and dignified way of life. Bulgaria is surrounded by injustice, which we need to face and fight in order to achieve the common dream – to make Bulgaria a country to be proud of, is written in the founding declaration of the new party, adopted by an initiative committee on April 8.

The promises in it almost overlap with the requests of Petkov and Vassilev, who entered the government – the introduction of full transparency in the management of state funds in all sectors and best practices in combating corruption, “permeated state structures”, which is a major obstacle to improving the lives of Bulgarians.

The PP vows to fight for a functioning economy as well as for

a fair, independent and functioning judiciary

6 basic principles will follow the new party, among them are restoring freedom of speech and restoring citizens’ trust in institutions, it is clear from its founding declaration. The other principles of “Continuing Change” are rule of law, equality of all Bulgarian citizens before the law, political pluralism and an independent judiciary, respect for fundamental human rights.

Among the goals before the new party, the main promise with which “Change” came to power is again recorded in the first place – zero tolerance for corruption (This was also the title of their election program).

Other goals follow the main priorities that brought Petkov and Vassilev victory in last November’s elections, such as stopping leaks of public funds, independent, competent and honest people in government, removing unnecessary licenses, registrations and permits.

Decent life of retirees, quality education, investing in mass sports and the arts, working

healthcare without the need for additional payments,

faster and safer transport network are also listed as goals of the new formation. As well as restructuring the Bulgarian energy sector to be independent of foreign energy sources, and achieving a balance between a competitive economy and the Green Deal. This is followed by the restoration of Bulgarian agriculture, nature conservation, and the promotion of contemporary Bulgarian culture.

The PP promises to defend our national interest in the EU and NATO and to pursue a “consistent and principled foreign policy.”

We are convinced that with a fair distribution of the funds that will go to the state treasury as a result of economic growth, the implementation of these policies will lead to broad social prosperity and create opportunities for a better life in Bulgaria, say from “We continue the change”. Which again reminds of the royal handwriting from that statement on the meadow in “Vrana” in 2001, which was also made in April.

The people of Kiril Petkov and Asen Vassilev are convinced that they are “united in one team that has the necessary moral values and qualities to achieve the desired result for all Bulgarians.”

The operational body of the party will be

Executive Bureau, which is expected to include 13-15 people

In the higher party body – the National Council, all deputies and ministers from the PP will sit by right.

Those wishing to be part of the new party will sign declarations for individual membership, which can be found on the website of “We continue the change”.
