World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has criticized the international community for focusing on the war in Ukraine. He added that crises elsewhere, including his native Ethiopia, do not receive equal attention.

According to the publication, the head of WHO asked himself: “is the world really paying equal attention to the lives of blacks and whites.” He added that crises continue in Ethiopia, Yemen, Afghanistan and Syria, but they have caused only a “small fraction” of the world community’s concern about the war in Ukraine.
“As we speak, people are dying of hunger,” he said.
At the same time, Ghebreyesus acknowledged that the war in Ukraine is of global importance. “I need to be straightforward and honest that the world does not treat the human race equally. Some are more equal than others,” the head of WHO concluded.
