For the development of the innovation park, 97.45 million francs are to be spoken, as the government council announced on Wednesday. CHF 44 million of this is dedicated loans for the construction of public infrastructure, which “in the best case” would be fully amortized.
RADIO TOP followed the media conference of the Zurich government council on the future of the Dübendorf airfield:
For this purpose, the government council applied to the cantonal council for a planning loan of CHF 8.2 million. A preliminary project is to be drawn up for a civil airfield for research, test and work flights with military use, it was said on Wednesday. After the planning loan, the cantonal council would also have to approve the preliminary project itself so that it could be implemented. This would probably be the case in mid-2027.
Also partial revision of the structural plan
In addition to the loan applications, a partial revision of the canton’s structure plan was carried out, which defines the planning parameters for the innovation park. This shows the canton’s interest in flight operations and the airfield, which forms the starting point for the federal sectoral plan process.
“I am convinced that we now have the momentum,” said Economics Director Carmen Walker Späh (FDP) to the media on Wednesday. Superficially, it is about the requested money. In essence, however, it is a question of whether the canton wants to play an active role on the entire airfield area. “Yes, we want to,” said Walker Späh. “We want to research, we want to develop.”
The Dübendorf airfield is a unique opportunity. A research location with over 10,000 jobs and an annual added value of CHF 1.9 billion is to be created, it was said on Wednesday.
