Awareness of women for undergoing studies that prevent cancer grows: MUAC

So far in 2022, it has been possible to gain ground in the awareness of women to periodically carry out their studies to detect breast and cervical cancer in a timely manner, said Betty Cruz Solórzano, president of the Active Women Against Cancer Association of Mom in the State of Veracruz.

She highlighted that last March they had a donation of 89 pap smears in three hours, which meant a great thermometer of the conscience of women in carrying out their gynecological studies in prevention of cervical cancer.

While the 25 program is the age for timely detection of breast cancer in women under 40, 100 breast ultrasounds were donated last February, in a record three days.

“This was very important because in previous years it had cost us a lot of work to reach the awareness of young women, who have that confidence that they will not get breast cancer, and there are more and more cases at these young ages,” commented.

Ultrasounds, mammograms and pap smears are donated free of charge by MUAC.

This month of April, which is passing, mammograms will be donated, and this Tuesday three branches of Soriana will be visited, where 50 mammograms will be donated for low-income women.

On April 20, they will be visiting Soriana del Núcleo Deportivo, on April 26, they will be in Soriana Los Pinos, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

They will also go for the first time to the Xalapa Cancer Center, where 30 external silicone breast prostheses and 30 bras will be taken to women who have undergone mastectomy.

“We had never done it and they are going to receive us with great joy because it is something that had not been done and we bring this help from the port,” he commented.

Mostly women who come from the mountains and who are of limited resources.

She highlighted that through the MUAC social networks, breast prostheses have been delivered to foreign women from Los Mochis, Campeche, Guadalajara, State of Mexico, among other places.

Unfortunately, breast cancer continues to be the first cause of death in women, while cervical cancer ranks second, where during the pandemic many women stopped having their mammograms and other studies and this has delayed their timely diagnoses.
