The tailor tore his front cruciate ligament in the left knee in September 2020 during a match for Zaragoza in the Spanish league and damaged both menisci. He was drafted into the NBA two months later. Washington chose him, but he immediately replaced the Czech national team in Oklahoma.

Last October, Krejčí made his overseas league debut after a long knee treatment.
