‘Apple Watch blood pressure monitor turns out to be complicated, postponed until at least 2024’

The sensor may not be built in Apple’s smart watch until 2025, insiders say Bloomberg† Talking about a future Apple Watch with a built-in blood pressure monitor already since 2014 rumors. In 2021, that sensor appeared in the Apple watch to be close already.

However, the feature would have setbacks now that Apple is testing the blood pressure sensor on employees, Bloomberg reports. It is not clear what setbacks these are. However, more is known about how the function should work. The blood pressure monitor does not give exact figures as with medical equipment, but warns users if their blood pressure is too high: hypertension.

Apple Watch already has many sensors

Some current sensors in the Apple Watch also work in a similar way. For example, the Apple Watch has a heart rate monitor, ECG scanner and blood oxygen meter† Those sensors warn the user if they see a noticeable change in patterns, but always refer them to doctors.

In the longer term, Apple would also be working on a glucose meter so that users with diabetes can monitor their blood sugar levels throughout the day. That scanner would also be complicated.

Apple Watch Series 8

The next Apple Watch expected later this year may include a sensor that monitors body temperature. Further innovations would be released with software updates. WatchOS 9 would again add more types of workouts, and more information aimed primarily at runners.
