In August 2018, a tree suddenly disappeared under the roadway of the Place des Fêtes de Gagny, surprising local residents. Nearly four years later, workers are once again hard at work plugging another hole that appeared in the same place at the end of December. This time, it was an underground water leak that caused the subsidence. “It was obvious that it was going to collapse, the ground was hollow, there were folds, describes a nanny who frequents the park next door. I live further away but the neighbors must be worried. »

“Around Christmas, we heard like water passing under the roadway, explains an immediate neighbor of the new hole. It was weird because we thought everything had been fixed since the last time. She and her neighbors then alerted the town hall, which discovered an underground leak, probably present for several weeks. “They put bags of cement inside”, continues the neighbor, still a little worried: “The whole thing is that it doesn’t start again. It shouldn’t damage the houses. »

200 m3 of cement injected at a depth of 65 meters

This Tuesday, the workers on site confirmed having injected the equivalent of 200 m3 of cement at a depth of 65 m. Surveys were also carried out in the nearest houses. “They have no visible cracks,” says the site manager.

“We did these surveys to reassure local residents”, specifies the mayor (LR) Rolin Cranoly, who recalls that “Gagny is 90% made up of quarry areas”: “In times of drought, for example, there are movements sporadic terrain. According to him, the current situation has nothing to do with the mysterious collapse of August 2018: “It is really a leak. There is work to be done to check all the pipes. »
