While Will Smith will suffer the consequences of the blow he sold at the Oscars for the next ten years, Chris Rock is reaping the benefits. Although the comedian has indicated several times that he will not comment on the incident for the time being, he can at least laugh about it.

Chris Rock also plans to make a profit from the event: he only wants to talk about it if he gets money for it. According to the California newspaper Desert Sun Chris Rock told this during a performance at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in California. “I’m fine. I have a whole show and I don’t talk about the event until I get paid for it,” he is said to have told the audience with a wide smile. “Life is good. I have my hearing back,” he joked.

Even during his first performance after the infamous blow, Rock already announced that he was not yet ready to respond to the event. “I don’t have much to say about it, so if that’s what you came here for… My whole show for tonight was already written out. I’m still processing what happened. I’ll talk about it at some point. It will be serious. It will be funny. But now I’m just here to tell some jokes,” Rock stated before his show.
The ticket sales of Rock’s ‘Ego Death Tour’ have had a huge boost since the Oscars. For Will Smith, on the other hand, the future looks less rosy, the actor will not be welcome at the Oscars and other meetings of The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, the organization behind the film awards, for the next ten years.
