In Bavaria alone, around 2,000 blood units are needed every day. With a single blood donation, up to three sick or injured people can be helped, writes the blood donation service (BSD) of the Bavarian Red Cross. Anyone who wants to help in Erding had the opportunity to do so on Monday in the town hall. Here in the picture Ingrid Geiger (right) from the blood donation service Bernhard Mühlbauer from Eitting professionally draws blood. A blood donation campaign will also take place there on Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Typing for stem cell donors is also possible. After a period of consistently high willingness to donate, a downward trend can unfortunately be observed, informs the BSD. This negative trend needs to be reversed, since a third of Germans depend on the blood of others at least once in their lives. Even a perfect medical care system cannot function without blood in the case of serious injuries and life-threatening diseases. If you want to donate, you should know that FFP masks are mandatory and that an appointment reservation is required. For more information and to book an appointment, go to www.blutspendedienst.com.
