On the day of the CMT Music Awards, Kelsea Ballerini revealed that she would not be able to host the awards show in person.
Kelsea Ballerini took to her Instagram to reveal to viewers why she wouldn’t be attending the CMT Music Awards.
Why does Kelsea Ballerini host from home?
The 28-year-old country music singer announced to her followers that she would be driving from home due to Covid.
“Alright folks, I have bad news and good news,” Ballerini said in his video.
“The bad news is that a couple of days ago I tested positive for COVID and the CMT Awards are tonight, so unfortunately I can’t be there in person anymore.”
She added that she was devastated by her diagnosis, but said she felt “so much better.”
“The amazing team at CMT and my crew bought part of the CMT set for my house, my little bubble, and set it up where I can still host and perform,” he said.
“It’s certainly not what we expected or planned, but we’re doing the best we can… Let’s make lemonade together with these very sour lemons.”
Who organizes the 2022 CMT Music Awards?
On April 11, 2022, PEOPLE reported that some artists from the country will present the awards ceremony.
Kane Brown will take over as host in person for Ballerini.
Anthony Mackie will also help host the music awards show, while Ballerini hosts and performs from home.
PEOPLE obtained a statement directly from the CMT Music Awards confirming the news.
“CMT Music Awards co-host Kelsea Ballerini has tested positive for COVID-19”.
“Fortunately, she is asymptomatic and remains excited to co-host the show (remotely),” the statement continued.
