Since the Russian invasion on February 24, 1,793 civilians have been killed and another 2,439 injured in Ukraine, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) said.
The OHCHR has confirmed the deaths of 458 men, 294 women, 27 girls and 46 boys as a result of the war since the beginning of the war, as well as the killing of 69 children and 899 unaccounted for adults, according to a report released on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine reports that at least 183 children have been killed and more than 342 injured in various attacks in Russia since the start of the war.
The attacks on Russian soldiers in the Donetsk region killed and injured 110 children, in the Kiev region 98, in the Kharkiv region 76, in the Chernihiv region 54, in the Mykolaiv region 40, in the Luhansk region 35, in the Kherson region 29, in the Zaporizhia region 22, in the city of Kiev and Sumy 16 each in the Zhytomyr region and 15 in the Zhytomyr region.
The Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine points out that these data are not final, as it is not possible to inspect the entire territory of the country as the shootings continue, especially in the temporarily occupied areas.
The OHCHR reports that the injured population includes 279 men, 213 women, 47 girls and 46 boys, as well as 136 children and 1,718 adults whose gender is not yet known.
Most of the 4,232 war victims were killed or injured in the use of ammunition and explosives over a large area, including the use of heavy artillery and rocket launchers, as well as rocket and air strikes.
According to the UN Office on Human Rights, the actual number of civilian casualties in the Russian-led war in Ukraine is much higher due to difficulties in obtaining information from areas of active warfare, such as Mariupol in the Donetsk region and Volnovah, Izh, Kharkiv region, Severodonetsk region, , where a large number of civilian casualties are reported. The OHCHR verifies all information received and the data received from these sites have not yet been validated and included in the number of victims.
