In his place, Alexandru Rafila named Luminița Cristina Pelin. Cristina Pelin also led DSP Bucharest at the very beginning of the pandemic, in 2020, resigning in March 2020 amid a massive wave of criticism that the institution did not answer the phone, in the context of the pandemic, when it should have managed to test suspected cases of COVID-19 and epidemiological investigations.

The dismissal of Oana Nicolescu and her replacement with Luminița Cristina Pelin were not announced by the Ministry of Health, but the change appears on the website of the Public Health Directorate.
“They answer (on the phone – ed.) In the morning, from 8 o’clock until 4:30 in the afternoon. Now, let no one imagine that it will be answered at night. But at night we have the guard line, where someone is permanently and informs us if there is an event! ”, declares Cristina Pelin, at that time the head of DSP Bucharest, in March 2020, according to Digi 24.
A few days after this statement, against the background of the public wave of criticism of DSP Bucharest since the beginning of the pandemic, Cristina Pelin resigned.
