Despite the April weather, Move-Day on the Hoher Busch attracted a great deal of interest

Hail, sunshine, thunder and lightning, the Move-Day on the Hoher Busch, which the KreisSportBund Viersen initiated together with the city of Viersen, really didn’t have it easy. Those who took advantage of the dry period could marvel at how diverse the sporting landscape in the district of Viersen is.

Viersen – At first glance, the grounds at Hohen Busch seemed a little empty, due to the weather not all sports clubs and organizations had set up their extensive range. Hail and lightning out of the blue made things difficult for the #move event of the KreisSportBund Viersen and the city of Viersen under the motto “movement UNITED”. Fortunately, the weather gods didn’t let the athletes and guests suffer, and those who held out had a lot to offer on the Hoher Busch.

While a colorful program on the stage gave the various clubs from the entire district the opportunity to present their extensive range of sports, visitors who preferred to be right in the middle could try out the various sports directly under the guidance of experienced trainers. From the stone labyrinth, the geographic center of the city of Viersen, the structure was almost like a course past the basketball field on the meadow to the area of 1. FC Viersen, which of course also took part.

Past the Pétanque Club and Bubble Soccer, which is also offered by the city of Viersen’s games bus at events, walking football, the new sport at SV Blau-Weiß Concordia 07/24 Viersen eV for all over 50 players, or those founded last year American football department “Concordia Lions” at SV Blau-Weiß Concordia 07/24 led to the Judo-Club Schiefbahn e. V. with a varied offer from Taekwondo to Koryu Uchinadi or Kobudo, to the ASV-Einigkeit Süchteln eV, the Schiefbahn Riders or VTHC – Viersener Tennis- und Hockeyclub 1896 e. V. How about golf at Haus Bey or a tour with your own vintage car at Motorsportclub Süchteln eV, table tennis, athletics, rowing or gliding?

“BWC Viersen probably provided one of the largest contingents with the Karate, Walking Soccer and American Football departments. All in all, it was a very successful day for BWC Viersen,” summed up the sports club from Viersen-Helenabrunn. DJK/VfL 1919 Willich Tanzsport was also enthusiastic: “A super boogie performance with a great group. It was fun. Thanks to KSB Viersen for letting us be there.”

The Budo-Club Viersen had initially built up, but due to the weather situation, dismantled again to protect the members. Nevertheless, the Move-Day was made possible on our own premises. “Yesterday had its ups and downs, but the safety of our students was our top priority. Without further ado, the performance was moved to the dojo and our students were still able to present their skills despite a full house. At least a little compensation for the big performance that our little ones were expecting,” said trainer Freddy Bär.

The CDU state parliamentarians Britta Oellers and Marcus Optendrenk also mingled with the guests of all ages, who followed the offer with interest. “Not only children have to be introduced to exercise again after the pandemic. We all have to get out. There is no wrong weather, only wrong clothing. And spring will be back in the next few days,” smiled Optendrenk, looking at the moving sky.

The six-strong organizational team saw it in a similar way, because after the long restrictions caused by the corona pandemic, they wanted to show what is possible “outdoor” and what diverse club offers are available in the district of Viersen. The various training sessions were always under the watchful eye of DRK-Viersen. Also on hand for first aid, the local association also collected for the Ukraine.

The new event format, which was reduced in terms of weather, met with lively and broad interest. It should not remain the only event, as an annual hands-on day is planned, alternating in a different municipality. A strong sign of a strong variety of sports in the district of Viersen. (nb)
